Tathata Golf Website 2.0

January 11, 2018 By Mooney Leave a Comment

Goal:

Redesigning ain’t easy, but it sure is fun

Process:

I started creating compositions and wireframes around May. We started to hit on the look and feel of the site closer to August. It was clear at that time that some assistance was going to be needed. We contracted out to have someone begin the process of taking the 14 compositions I had and building the pages roughly. We were told it would be done in 4 weeks, including responsive, videos, and animations. 12 weeks later we still did not have responsive, the videos working 100% or all the videos. I stepped in right as the new site was coming online and 4-5 very long… long days we were able to meet the deadline and pull it off. Below are samples of the pages that were created.

Tathata Golf – Emails

January 10, 2018 By Mooney Leave a Comment

Goal:

Update Email look and function

Process:

I started to work immediately on social content. Emails early on I pushed to make each one better than before. Ultimately with the new site launch, I created ones to use through Intercom instead of going through SharpSpring and or MailGun or Mail Chimp. I also used Balsamiq to create some early ideas for various email types.

Tathata Golf Social

January 9, 2018 By Mooney Leave a Comment

Goal:

Instagram, Twitter, Ads oh my

Process:

Utilized social media to drive contests, traffic to our site, stir controversy, or just engage with fans. As the social media team came up with several ideas, I would build out several different versions that could be rotated into the various social channels using Hootsuite to schedule them out. Some ads were part of a larger campaign with the launch of the new app.

Tathata Golf Events

Goal:

The Event that could

Process:

Putting on an event in less than two-weeks is insane, and we did it. World wind of edits, revisions, late night, constant pushing for perfection and multiple channels this event kicked a lot of butts, and we kicked it right back. Below you will find some Signs, seeing them live at the event and the emailers that lead up to it.

Vision Tech Team

October 12, 2016 By Mooney Leave a Comment

Goal:

If you build it, they will want a glass of milk

Process:

Vision Tech Team was amazing. A young upstart company with some big clients. It was a very quick paced environment and I got to work on some incredible projects with some top talent in the industry, with two very exceptional Entrepreneurs at the helm.

Mainly I was a creative manager helping both the Developers and Designers build out pages, giving them guidance on the look, quality and suggestions of Style Guides, hitting deadlines and such. I was not as good a Project Manager as I think I was but I think I did ok. I worked mainly with wireframes or compositions first, from there it was instructions with the amazing designers and developers of Vision Tech Team. Samples below of the teams and my collaboration.

Freelance

September 16, 2016 By Mooney Leave a Comment

Goal:

Just because its Freelance, Doesn’t mean it’s free

Process:

I started doing additional freelance in between jobs or on the side. Here is a small collection of some of the work I completed during those brief reprieves from steady income. For those starving for experience, or for a sandwhich I utilized localsolo.com and 99Designs as well to increase my opportunities and choose what I wanted to work on.

PetSmart SLOP Promo

June 16, 2016 By Mooney Leave a Comment

Goal:

Cross promote ads with Film resources
Create graphics for web, USA Today, and promotional emails to combine the look and feel of PetSmart while adhering to the brand guide of Secret Life of Pets.

Process:

Based on needs of designs I utilized the style guide provided by Universal to ensure I was on brand with their requirements. I made sure to keep the design elements similar to what PetSmart was establishing as a look and feel. I designed web banners, emails, and even graphics to be used in an article for USA Today.

Designing a site when…

April 22, 2016 By Mooney Leave a Comment

Designing a portfolio when you have little time

The before

Just like that. Before I realized it I was out of a job. I realized right then the weight of what that means. How do I pay my mortgage? How do I tell my wife? The zinger came when I finally realized, oh crap! I don’t even have a site up!

I had relied on the fact that I was happy. I was content at my job and was damn good at it. Never did I think I would need to update my portfolio and or build a site let alone so quickly. Being me I had to remember some big key steps…

1) The biggest key is to stay flexible and positive.

This was all I could muster between the job applying, interviewing and doing tests for various companies.

OOOOH AHHHH …. pretty lame right? The problem I ran into was … what do I show?

Animation? Bootstrap? Parallax? straight HTML? Pictures of my dogs? What I knew was that I am a good coder/designer. That I needed to keep that in mind. Don’t lose sight of who you are and what you can do. I decided on things I was good at. One was designing. The other was chicken enchiladas.

2) Design it on paper first!

I did about 1 – 2 hours of rough layouts and designs, really trying to plan out the look and feel of my website. What I wanted to show, how I wanted it to work, where it needed to be to compete for jobs out there.

I even went so far to create wireframes and a quick pdf guide to keep me on point

I knew I wanted to show responsiveness, every job I was applying for was really asking for and wondering how to showcase mobile-friendly websites to reach more customers.

3) The end or is it?

So where did I end up? I did find some freelance, and some contract work, keeping positive and letting people experience your energy was a big reason for these experiences. Also being grateful and humble helps appreciate what you have and whom you have.

But now I am back, back out in the world looking. At least this time I have a prettier page to assist in my search. Still not 100% complete but neither was the death star. #hanshotfirst.

and since I mentioned it before, pics of my dogs.

Thanks for reading!

Insight Resource App

April 5, 2016 By Mooney Leave a Comment

Goal:

Creating presentation platform via website

Process:

I started with quick sketches to layout the concept, sharing my sketches with the senior designer. The concept was then presented to the project managers.

Automatik

Wireframes:

Once the sketches were approved, I constructed the wireframes and built them in InDesign. This showcased the overall look and feel of the template.

Composition:
